Innovation Policy

Objectives

 The main objective of the Innovation Strategy Brandenburg 2006 (LIK 2006) is to foster close co-operation in networks between science and industry in the region. To this end, specific measures such as the advancement of technology transfer are suggested. In addition, there are plans for improving support for finding investors with the help of a new innovation policy. Fields of co-operation in the capital region with Berlin are also defined. Last but not least, the LIK 2006 concept integrates the innovation policy into the revised concept for economic development in Brandenburg.

The objectives of the LIK 2006 concept are defined as strategic guidelines and refer to the following six fields of action:

1) Success in Innovative Fields of Branch Competence
The realignment of the promotion of economic development in Brandenburg comes along with a concentration on 16 fields of branches that possess outstanding industrial competence. The state’s innovation policy takes this into account.

2) Technology Transfer
The development and advancement of technology transfer between science and industry is regarded as particularly important. Special attention is paid to establishing links an co-operation between research institutes and Brandenburg companies.

3) The German Capital Region
Berlin and Brandenburg pool their resources to form a co-operative and inter-co-ordinated joint innovation policy.

4) Innovative Start-ups
It is envisaged that even more technology and innovation-oriented start-up companies come out of the universities and research institutes in Brandenburg.

5) Innovation-oriented Strategy for Business Settlements
The innovation policy is geared towards giving even more assistance towards finding investors. Innovative value creation and supply chains are specifically taken into account.

6) Innovative Financial Instruments
Financial instruments for supporting technology projects will be further developed.
